The core curriculum is 15 1/2 hours, but we schedule for 18-20 hours to allow for remediation, class discussion, bad weather, etc. You must have proper riding gear, which includes over-the-ankle leather boots, long pants, long-sleeved shirt or jacket and full fingered gloves. In the event of rain, be sure to bring your rain gear as well. If bringing your own helmet that does not offer protection for the face, be sure to bring safety goggles as well. It must be DOT approved as well. If necessary, a full face helmet will be provided to you during the class. NYS DRIVER’S LICENSE IS NEEDED FOR ENTRANCE INTO CLASS! Depending on temperatures, we aim to ride rain or shine. In the event of a severe thunderstorm, cold rain, etc. class may be temporarily delayed or cancelled. You must complete a written and motorcycle skills evaluation and pass both. Attendance to all dates in full is also required. You have 30 days to re-test both tests if necessary at no charge. You will receive your NYS/MSF Road Test Waiver upon successful completion of your class. BRC stands for Basic RiderCourse and this is the class that you want to take to be eligible for the NYS Road Test Waiver. There is no difference between the A or B class; we schedule for approximately 20 hours either way, it’s just structured time wise differently. Although the Basic RiderCourse (BRC) is designed for people who have little or no riding experience some students feel they would like to take a one hour introductory lesson in a one on one environment first.
